Value study
Last night when I posted the color study I felt like I had lost something between pencil sketch and painting. I got thinking and decided what I forgot to do was a value study. The color version turned out looking flat and uninspired. So I omitted the complication of color. This new study was done in about 30 minutes. I feel like I have defined a few more things that will make the final color study easier to pull off. Tell me what you think.

i like the foreground in this sketch, the deep shawdows of the rocks give it edgy, dramatic feel the color version lacks a littlle. Beautiful sketch!
