A time, a place, a villian and a heroIn the tradition of the concept illustrator I've decided to create my own world and everything that would be in it including characters locations and environments. Who knows, maybe along the way I'll come up with a great story too. Since everything will come from my imagination I think it will be a great exercise in visual thinking. With each component I'll start with sketches and try to bring them to a finished illustration. This is my location...the desert southwest.
I think I lost some of the energy that's in the original sketch when I did the color study in photoshop. It's definitely not where I want it to be but thought I'd post it anyway.

This piece has a smudgy look-takes a bit of the dramatic edge from the piece-but there is still a quiet kind of beauty left.
Yes, the smudgy look frustrated me. Though I think the palette was closer to my initial vision.
